Description
The Anatomy of an Electric Typewriter.
Practically the iPhone of it’s time, this iconic typewriter with it’s groundbreaking removable type ball gave the user the ability to change fonts with a few snaps. Thomas Watson Jr. called it “the most totally distinct invention we’ve ever made as a company.” I took apart a classic IBM Selectric typewriter to create a poster for publication on IBM’s master brand social platforms. After many hours of careful deconstructing, cleaning nearly every oily piece and laying them down on a 4’x8′ sheet of paper covered plywood, I took this photo from above. (It was actually two photos of the top and the bottom that I composed into one image. )This was project published digitally back when I was an employee.
